Support CWAers at Cingular and Get a 5% Discount!
You can support your fellow CWA members at Cingular Wireless—the only unionized wireless company—and also receive a 5% discount on monthly service by switching to Cingular.
Cingular offers the 5% discount to CWA members on all available plans, including family plans.
To sign up, go to a Cingular-owned retail store and show proof of CWA membership. This can be your CWA union card*, your CWA MasterCard, or a payroll stub that shows dues deduction. Also you must mention this "FAN Number"—113662—to the store clerk.
Retired members also are eligible for the discount if they can show membership in a CWA Retired Members Chapter.
For members who presently have Cingular service but aren't getting the discount, follow the same procedure, but note that you will need to sign up for a new two-year service agreement.
This offer cannot be combined with any other offers or discounted rate plans. The CWA discount is off standard published monthly access charges. This offer can only be accessed at a Cingular store, not via phone or web.
To find a Cingular store in your area, check out Cingular's store locator.
*Lost membership cards can be replaced by contacting your local. Retirees should contact Helen Gibson at hgibson@cwa-union.org or (202) 434-1346.
A Union-Friendly Company
By using Cingular Wireless, you are supporting one of the few corporations in America today that publicly proclaim they are "proud to be a union company."
After Cingular purchased AT&T Wireless recently, the former AT&T workers have flocked to join CWA by the thousands, taking advantage of Cingular's policy of remaining neutral in organizing drives and voluntarily recognizing the union when a majority of workers in a location sign union authorization cards.
Unfortunately, others in this industry have taken the low road when it comes to labor relations. AT&T Wireless used to maintain an aggressive "union avoidance" policy before being bought by Cingular. And today, workers at Verizon Wireless would like the benefits of union representation too, but they are subjected to intense management surveillance and coercion, including firings and even office closures to block unionization.
Let's show our support for the good employers like Cingular who do the right thing.
