Another 186 AT&T Mobility network workers in Puerto Rico now are members of CWA Local 3010, joining CWA through majority sign-up. The former Centennial Wireless Network Department employees work in six different locations across the island.

CWA's AT&T Internet bargaining committee will begin negotiations with AT&T for a new contract covering nearly 5,400 workers in Districts 3, 4, 6 and 9. Bargaining will take place in Dallas; the current contract expires July 17.

CWA members at AT&T Mobility in District 3 ratified a new four-year agreement by a 68 percent "yes" vote. The agreement covers about 11,200 workers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

CWA District 3 reached a tentative three-year agreement with AT&T covering nearly 700 workers in the National Directory and Customer Assistance unit. The workers handle directory and customer service for AT&T Mobility customers.

At a meeting of CWA's new Customer Service Activist Network, local union leaders across CWA sectors came together to talk about the critical problems facing customer service reps: unreasonable sales quotas, monitoring, health problems tied to stress, repetitive motion and headsets, and a general lack of respect.

Just like 40,000 other CWA members at AT&T Mobility, 315 workers from the former Centennial Wireless in Indiana and Michigan have a union voice, joining CWA through majority sign up. In Indiana, some 290 customer care representatives at the Ft. Wayne call center and a 10-person statewide unit of technicians now are represented by CWA Local 4900.

CWA's District 3 bargaining team reached a tentative four-year agreement at AT&T Mobility that provides wage increases of 10 percent, upgrades job titles and includes other improvements. The tentative agreement, reached just before the April 16 contract expiration, covers more than 11,200 workers. The bargaining committee unanimously recommended ratification; members will be voting on the proposed agreement.

CWAers in District 3 ratified a new three-year agreement covering 35,000 CWA-represented workers at AT&T Southeast, the BellSouth Telecommunications unit. The settlement was ratified by a 65 percent vote.

On January 14, 2010 CWA had our first official meeting with the Job Satisfaction Committee, agreed to under the Orange Contract. Lois J. Grimes-Patow, Administrative Director at CWA and Representative Krystal Sturm, from the Evansville, IN call center, met with the company.
