Yesterday our Bargaining Team spent all day reviewing Health Care proposals from AT&T. We all continue to be outraged that an extremely profitable company still feels the need to make its active and retired employees pay what they call “our fair share” for health care.

Our Legacy T Bargaining Team has been meeting informally with the Company and internally with our Union researchers to work on a plan to improve the Pensions of those on the Cash Balance Account.

Yesterday the IBEW and AT&T announced a one-year agreement that extends their contract to 2013 but changes benefits and has a small wage increase.

The bargaining team returned from their Memorial Day trip home anxious to get back to the bargaining table. Today was spent reviewing all of our outstanding issues and where we and the Company have moved on each one.

The bargaining teams met formally today. Our Union team resubmitted demands to equalize termination pay across all Articles (43, 44, 45 and 39) by moving those with a lesser term pay schedule to the full 104 weeks provided by Article 25.

Local 3250 did a great job bringing this issue to OSHA’s attention. Below is a copy of the “Serious” citation OSHA issued against AT&T because (1) material safety data sheets were not provided for hazardous substances at Century Center, and (2) employees working at this location were not provided appropriate information and training concerning these hazardous substances.

A huge box arrived from Local 6201 in Ft. Worth, Texas with instructions to give it to the Company bargainers. It was full of branded items that had been distributed to employees – all kinds of AT&T and “Starz” merchandise. There were T-shirts and pads and ceramic cups and tissue boxes and balls and pens and hundreds of other items.
