Bargaining Update

Catholic Health

CWA bargainers reached tentative four-year agreements covering 2,500 workers at three hospitals in upstate New York. The tentative contracts cover registered nurses and service, technical, and clerical workers at Mercy Hospital; registered nurses at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus; and technical workers at Kenmore Mercy Hospital.

Members of CWA Locals 1133 and 1168 are now reviewing the proposed agreements. A ratification vote will be held in the next few weeks.

The tentative agreements provide improvements in wages, staffing, and pensions contributions; maintain quality health benefits; and address critical patient care issues. More details are available here.

In August, CWA members and allies held a rally for safe staffing, respect, and reform at St. Joseph's Hospital.

AT&T West

Solidarity made all the difference at AT&T West this week, as CWAers stood strong in their resolve to engage in an unfair labor practice strike if the company tried to maintain its unilateral changes to the grievance process.
