CWA Creates Distressed Employer SIF

CWA's Executive Board has established a strategic industry fund to identify distressed CWA employers who are most at risk in the ongoing economic crisis.

The Financially Distressed Employer fund will enable CWA to prepare for and help ease the impact that a distressed employer could have on CWA members and their families.

CWA's Research Department will identify, monitor, and track the financial condition of larger CWA employers that are in financial distress or facing bankruptcy. The project also will rely on input from CWA vice presidents, local leaders and staff.

As companies are identified, CWA will examine bargaining, legislative and community action strategies to help protect members' jobs and benefits.
