In The News: NABET-CWA Resumes Talks with NBC Universal
March 1, 2099
Negotiations between NABET-CWA and NBC Universal resumed in March, but union leaders are questioning the company's commitment to reaching a fair contract.
NABET-CWA President John Clark said that NBC wants to create a new nonunion position at its stations that incorporates the work that union members have been doing for decades, but without overtime pay or job security.
NBC also announced plans to close some operations in New York and Burbank, Calif., and to transfer some work to a non-union facility in New Jersey, Clark said.
NABET-CWA locals have filed unfair labor charges with the National Labor Relations Board. Their current contract expires March 31.
