The Centers for Disease Control released new estimates in March that found that 50 million Americans are currently without health insurance and 1 in 5 have been without insurance at some point within the past 12 months.
Over the past decade, an increasing amount American adults has become uninsured. The Affordable Care Act, passed last year and signed into law by President Obama, will reverse the trend and is projected to guarantee ensure comprehensive health insurance 94% of Americans by 2016.
