Seeking a voice in their workplace like 38,000 of Cingular's 44,000 workers, 52 network technicians in New Jersey gained union representation on Sept. 21 after a majority of the workers supported a union through card check.
The workers, formerly from AT&T Wireless, join the more than 18,000 other AT&T Wireless employees who have sought and gained CWA representation since their company merged with Cingular. CWA Local 1101 organizer Jim Trainor assisted the workers. All of Cingular's workers in New Jersey are now CWA.
