Alcatel-Lucent 2014 Bargaining Report #22

Bargaining Report #22

Alcatel-Lucent Installation

Today was again spent on the BIG issues – Health Care and the Company’s workforce plans.  The Union countered the Company’s last proposal which, as we said yesterday, was an improvement over their first one. Our proposal recognized that there have been increases in the cost of health care since 2004 but not to the extent that the Company demanded.  We also want to make sure that not only do our current retirees get medical care in the future but that every Installer who retires during the course of this Contract knows they are guaranteed Retiree health benefits they can count on. Our other main focus is dealing with the effects of the Company’s Shi(f)t Plan on our Installers.  We are doing our best to lessen the effect of their plans, protect seniority, provide as much job security as we can in the future and make sure that those that do leave get as much as we can possibly get them.  This has been our most difficult task.

Yesterday another rally took place in front of the RITC in Dublin, Ohio. A very creative Installer, “Gunny” from Local 7090, drew the handmade signs. Click here to see photos.

Every Installer should be involved in Mobilization activities at this point.  Let the Company know you are serious about getting a fair Contract.
