After what was traditionally a slow first quarter, IHS reported that global service provider router and switch revenue jumped 19 percent to $3.9 billion.

With the exception of Asia Pacific, which declined 16 percent, carrier switching and routing revenue rose in all major geographical regions year-over-year in the second quarter of 2015.

As seen in earlier quarters, Cisco continued to lead the router-only market, while Huawei held onto the the number 2 spot. Meanwhile, Juniper and Alcatel-Lucent held a close race with the third and fourth spots.

The research firm has forecast that the worldwide service provider router and switch market to grow at a 2 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2014 to 2019.
