Attention: Alcatel-Lucent Medicare-Eligible Plan Participants

In preparation for the upcoming annual open enrollment period for your 2012 benefits, the Alcatel-Lucent Joint Retiree Health Care Committee is announcing an important change to healthcare coverage for Medicare-eligible participants and their Medicare-eligible dependents who reside in the United States (U.S.).

Change to Your Healthcare Coverage

The Alcatel-Lucent Joint Retiree Health Care Committee (JRHC) has selected the UnitedHealthcare® Group Medicare Advantage (PPO), a Medicare Advantage Preferred Provider Organization plan, for your retiree health coverage. If you (and your Medicare-eligible dependents) are currently enrolled in the Traditional Indemnity option, the UnitedHealthcare® Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) will be your coverage in 2012 for you (and your Medicare-eligible covered dependent[s]) unless you take action during the annual open enrollment period and actively enroll in the Traditional Indemnity option.

UnitedHealthcare is an experienced and reputable carrier, selected by Alcatel-Lucent with the full support of CWA because of its experience with Medicare Advantage plans.

To help you learn more about this new option, UnitedHealthcare will be holding Information Sessions and Teleconference Calls beginning in early October through early November. Specific dates and locations will be provided in a mailing from Alcatel-Lucent.

As a reminder, under the Alcatel-Lucent plan provisions, Medicare-eligible participants must be entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B to receive benefits coverage through the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO).

Annual Open Enrollment: November 7, 2011 through November 18, 2011

Your annual enrollment period begins on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), and ends on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., ET. Watch for your annual open enrollment materials which will arrive about two weeks before enrollment begins. These materials include information about the benefits coverage options available to you and costs.
