Bill's Retirement

Re: Retirement

As most of you know, I have announced my retirement effective at our 75th Annual Convention. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the years of support and dedication to me, CWA, the T&T office and most importantly, to our Members.

At this year’s Convention, you will have the responsibility of electing a new Vice President to lead the T&T office. I am sure that you will continue to support the newly elected VP, as you have supported me. As you are aware, there is considerable debate concerning the T&T office and future structure of CWA.  Debate is always healthy, but in my opinion, it should always include the Locals. Without their input, it will not have the best results and could do considerable harm. Be careful of those that talk about “change” but have no plan nor solicit your input. CWA is a National Union and many of our largest employers are national corporations. We need to grow and strengthen our office to have a clear and consistent strategy to stop the attack on our members.

Please know that I am deeply grateful and humbled to have had the chance to serve you and our great Union. I will certainly miss you all, but I am looking forward to the next chapter of my journey.

Stealing a line from Joe Hill:

Where working men defend their rights,

It's there you'll find me!!!!

In Unity,

Bill
