Breaking! House of Representatives Will Hold Fast Track Vote Tomorrow

This is it. Tomorrow is the day. We've been working, mobilizing and fighting back against Fast Track for bad trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and it all comes down to tomorrow.

We have 24 hours to make a difference, so let's do it.

CWAers are keeping the heat on their congressional representatives, urging them to vote NO on Fast Track and NO on the plan to fund a weakened Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program by siphoning off $700 million from Medicare.

  • The bill fails to include sufficient funds for TAA, cutting the program by 21 percent and making deep cuts in resources for workers who lose their jobs because of offshoring, including health care.
  • This bill completely excludes public sector workers from TAA coverage. At least 12% of public sector jobs are working in jobs classified as "offshoreable," and the TPP would encourage even more offshoring of public and private sector jobs.
  • A vote for this inadequate and ineffective TAA program means a vote for cuts in Medicare.

This video, produced by CWA Digital Comms, is circulating on Capitol Hill now. We need our members of Congress to listen to us.
