Customer Service Professionals Focus on Building Profession, Union

CWA’s customer service advocate network committee has put together an extensive program for this year’s customer service professionals conference focused on moving forward on critical issues for CWA’s growing customer service membership.

A panel discussion on issues and success stories will cover CWA customer service professionals in every sector: telecom, the public sector, airlines, and newspapers and media. Other presentations will cover organizing, ways to gain respect in the workplace and a look at how the customer contact industry is changing.

The fight for fairness at T-Mobile USA and the campaign to expose the double standard in how T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom allows workers in different countries to be treated will also be a big part of the conference.

Several T-Mobile USA workers who want a CWA voice will join the discussion, and Kornelia Dubbel and Ado Wilhelm, leaders in the German union ver.di, which represents T-Mobile and DT workers in Germany, will talk about strategies for building TU, the joint union formed by CWA and ver.di to represent workers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Customer service professionals will send post cards to Deutsche Telekom with the message, “One Company, One Standard – Workers rights for all at Deutsche Telekom,” as part of the worldwide union movement campaign to end the double standard at DT.
