A new deal under review by the Department of Justice and the FCC could cost U.S. workers 72,000 jobs. Verizon and cable companies such as Comcast and Time Warner may, under this pending deal, be allowed to market each other’s products. This would limit competition and end Verizon’s incentive to expand its FiOS high-speed service. Without that expansion of FiOS, job growth would stall and the digital divide would deepen.
CWA, members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and allies are mounting an all-out effort to protect workers by imposing strict limits on the deal.
