"Educate Yourself"

CWA member Mia found out first-hand what it feels like when your union has your back. Waylaid by a dispute with her manager, she turned to her steward to mediate. Mia and her manager were able to reach an amicable resolution, and Mia was left wondering what else CWA could do for her.

After more than three years with AT&T, Mia decided to participate in a CWA training last January, an experience she described as "eye-opening." The most important takeaway? Educate yourself.

As she put it, "I couldn't believe how long I'd taken our union for granted. We have access to so many benefits, and there are so many people working to make sure someone's always got your back. It's so important to know how a union can work for you, regardless of how long you plan to work for the company."

Mia says she can't imagine life without a union, and was inspired to join CWA's Next Generation group — working to find creative ways to get young CWA members more engaged with our union. Her number one goal is to make sure all 200 of her coworkers go through the union training.
