Hispanic Heritage Month

Below is important information from the President of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement.

Dear Members and Friends,

September 15 - October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. It is a time when our nation recognizes the significant contributions Latinos have made in the United States. As the leading Latino labor advocacy group, we take this time not only to celebrate our important accomplishments, but also to address the issues important to our community.

Our two previous reports Latino Workers in the United States and our Trabajadoras Report show Latino workers face significant challenges at the workplace. While our social and working challenges are difficult, we know that our community is resilient and growing in importance. Our community commands over a trillion dollars in purchasing power, continues to influence political elections, and is changing the face of business, labor, and politics.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are very pleased to announce the release of our newest report titled Latino Workers and Unions:  A Strategic Partnership for America's Progress. This report takes an in-depth view on why Latinos need the wages and protections unionization provides, while underscoring the importance of union engagement with Latino workers.

We invite you to read and share our new report.  It is our goal to educate our community on why organizing into labor unions is an important first step to achieve economic equality. We hope you can join us in this fight by spreading the word.

In Solidarity,

Milton Rosado

President, LCLAA
