Report on Bell Atlantic/Verizon Talks, 11:50 p.m. August 6

Negotiations between CWA and Bell Atlantic were continuing as midnight approached on Sunday, August 6, almost 24 hours since union members began their walkout, which still continues.

CWA negotiators reported that significant progress has been made in today's talks, which began around 9 a.m. However, there are still many important points to work out on key issues for our members in the areas of job security and working conditions, as well as wage and benefit issues.

Negotiations are expected to continue to take place throughout the day on Monday, August 7. The strike will continue until a fair settlement has been reached that meets our members' needs.
