Statement by CWA President Morton Bahr on Nomination of Elaine Chao as Labor Secretary
The Communications Workers of America supports President-Elect Bush's nomination of Elaine Chao as Secretary of Labor.
I've known and worked with Ms. Chao for several years, having served on the selection committee that chose her as president of the United Way of America, and having worked with her as vice chairman of the United Way board of governors. I can attest to her leadership skills, her integrity, and her ability to bring together diverse interests.
Her proven administrative experience and stature are the qualities needed for this important Cabinet position, and I believe she will be responsive to the needs of working families. We look forward to working with her.
