TOPGUN Aircraft Maintenance Workers Join IUE-CWA

Beating back their employer's anti-union campaign, workers who maintain U.S. Navy fighters in Nevada recently voted 10-1 to join IUE-CWA Local 89119.

The maintenance work is done at the Naval Strike and Warfare Center (TOPGUN) in NAS Fallon, Nev., but the workers are employed privately by Company L-3 Vertex Aerospace. IUE-CWA already represents other aircraft maintenance workers at the facility, but the new members' titles were previously excluded from the bargaining unit.

In other organizing news, five AT&T Mobility network technicians with the Minnesota Network Group (formerly Alltel) have joined CWA Local 7250 through the union's neutrality and consent agreement with AT&T.
