March 2 – 7, 2008 10:00 a.m. Sunday - 4:00 p.m. Friday National Labor College at the George Meany Center Campus Silver Spring, Maryland WHAT: A six-day "train the trainer" program on workplace health and safety using a participatory popular education approach. Participants will learn the fundamentals of workplace health and safety, with a focus on the topics below. They will also learn how to teach or facilitate classes on these subjects for other union members. Specific topics to be covered include: WHO: This program is for union and community organization activists, staff, and local union health and safety representatives who would like to teach their membership about workplace health and safety issues. The program will have approximately 20 participants. Participants must be sponsored by their union or organization and must agree to facilitate safety and health training in their union or organization. The union or organization must make a commitment to support the participant in doing health and safety training for its members. WHERE: National Labor College at the George Meany Center Campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. WHEN: March 2 – 7, 2008. The program will begin on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and will run through 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Participants are expected to arrive on Saturday, March 1 (except for commuters who should arrive Sunday morning). COST: A single room for six nights (Saturday-Thursday) and all meals starting with Sunday breakfast costs $1162. The cost per person for a double room is $757. For commuters, the cost is $280, which includes lunches and dinners. There is no charge for tuition or materials.
