Transatlantic trip helps build our movement

The transatlantic partnership between CWA and ver.di, a German telecom union, took a big step forward in October, strengthening the international bond among T-Mobile workers and helping to build stronger wireless union representation.

From Oct. 14–Oct. 16, local organizers from six T-Mobile stores in Los Angeles met with representatives from the T-Shop Works Council in Germany, as well as CWA organizers involved with the Unity@Mobility campaign.

During the talks, the non-unionized T-Mobile workers heard about the vital role of trade unions in both Germany and the United States. They received information explaining their rights, setting them on the course for union training, and steps to help build our movement.

Most importantly, they learned more about TU, the union for T-Mobile employees from German’s telecom union, ver.di, and CWA. Many T-Mobile workers left their discussions feeling excited and ready to learn more about the work of building our movement.

This trip also strengthened the bonds between our U.S. brothers and sisters and our friends in Germany. Said Kyle Seeley, one of the meeting attendees and member of local 9003, "I had an incredible experience being able to connect with other union members from a different country that share the same vision for a healthy working environment as I do.”
