U.S. Department of Labor Files Suit Against AT&T for Violation of OSH Act

On May 16, 2014, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) filed suit against AT&T on behalf of four CWA Local 6360 members for violating Section 11(c), the non-discrimination clause, of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The four cases were deemed to be the best of the 16 total cases filed as OSHA complaints by Local 6360 members.

Following action by numerous Ohio CWA locals, earlier this year the U.S. DOL filed a similar lawsuit against the Company regarding 13 Section 11(c) cases and during 2013 CWA won five administrative law judge decisions against AT&T.

CWA is working to have the Company eliminate its discriminatory and illegal policies that drive their performance and productivity programs, which, in turn, lead to increased member/worker occupational injuries, illnesses, and other health problems.
