Unions Continued Talks with Verizon in 2003

Washington, D.C. -- As the midnight contract expiration approached in union contract talks with Verizon, the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers announced that negotiations are continuing. The unions said that members will remain on the job until further notice while talks are underway.

Union leaders determined that enough progress had been made at the bargaining table to continue working toward a contract settlement. However, they reported that key issues remain unresolved.

CWA represents 60,000 members at Verizon, the IBEW represents 18,000.
