VERIZON STRIKERS ONLY SEEKING AMERICAN DREAM | The Post-Standard

In a story Friday, management described the Verizon strike as a cynical attempt by well-paid workers to hold on to benefits more suited to a bygone America.

What bygone era does Verizon management want? Do we need to go back to the era when workers were beaten by hired thugs if they even tried to unionize? Or maybe when men would stand on the corner and a flatbed would pull up and some dude would ask, "Who wants work today?" How about the days of the sweatshop where child labor was legal and you could be forced to work 16 hours without a break?

The only reason I can see for taking from the workers is to give more to the executives. Verizon is a $19.4 billion company.

What is wrong with living the American dream? Is that dream only for the chosen few?
