- Make certain that you, your family members and co-workers are registered to vote. And on June 2, get to the polls and make your voice heard.
- Talk about these issues on the job and with your colleagues. Help others realize that what we have won at the bargaining table can be taken away by hostile political forces. Make sure your co-workers know that the stakes are high — that our right to participate in the political process and our ability to look out for our families will be lost if Prop 226 passes.
- Respond to negative comments by local media. Write a letter to the editor or call in to a local radio program. Back up your statements with the facts provided in this publication.
- Work with others in your community — through a religious or civic group, a neighborhood association, or some other organization.
- Contact your CWA local and join the fight against Prop 226. Volunteer to staff a phone bank, help others get registered, or to make certain voters gets to the polls on June 2.
Don’t be put off by newspaper or television reporting or anti-union organizations that claim that a majority of California citizens support this initiative. Our scientific polling clearly demonstrates that once union members know who’s really behind this measure, and what their true agenda is, opposition to Prop 226 grows dramatically. It’s the responsibility of each of us to get this message out.
