Yes, they did!

Sí, lo hicimos means “Yes, we did,” and last week, that’s what members of CWA District 3 in Puerto Rico said after voting to ratify a new contract with AT&T.

But it didn't come without a fight. Negotiations with AT&T got so tense that CWA members in Puerto Rico voted to authorize a strike. It was only then that AT&T came back to the table in good faith with an offer that respects workers’ rights and recognizes their value.

Unity@Mobility brothers and sisters like you helped make this happen by showing your solidarity — supporting the Puerto Rico bargaining committee with your photos and tweets saying ¡Si Se Puede! (“Yes, we can”).

The newly ratified contract gives Puerto Rican workers rights and benefits they deserve, such as:

  • Guaranteeing steady wage increases — and a one-time bonus of $1,000
  • Giving employees more flexibility in their schedules, including five-day work weeks instead of six-day work weeks, as well as more advance notice for scheduling changes
  • Allowing part-time employees to accrue time off

This successful contract negotiation is a reminder to us all that AT&T doesn’t give us our rights. We must fight for them together. And because every new CWA contract influences the contracts that come next, this contract matters well beyond Puerto Rico. It impacts each and every one of us!
