Members Reject NBC Contract Offer, Talks Resume

NABET-CWA members at NBC overwhelming rejected the company’s July 25 proposal through a national ratification vote that was completed on August 26. The two sides have been in talks since September 2008.

NABET-CWA Rallies for PBS Funding

Sector President Jim Joyce joined with AFTRA, the Writers Guild of America, MoveOn and Free Press in a rally on March 15 to stop Congress from defunding public broadcasting. Joyce was part of a group that hand-delivered 1 million petitions to support public funding for PBS.

Regions 2 and 6 Attend Joint RAB Meeting in Cincinnati

Attendees from 17 Locals participated in the 2011 RAB meeting in Cincinnati the weekend of April 15-17. The meeting, organized by Region 2 Vice President Fred Saburro and Region 6 Vice President Bill Wachenschwanz, included an all-day mobilization workshop.

On April 4, Union members around the country joined together for We Are One rallies to fight attacks on workers’ rights in Wisconsin, Ohio and everywhere. NABET-CWA Local 43 joined with Metro Detroit AFL-CIO and AFSCME for a prayer vigil in Detroit, and RVP 5 Louis Gabriele in Burbank came out to support the Union effort.
