The Source

I've become editor of our local's newsletter, but people aren't sending in stories. What can I do to get people to provide me with stories?

Like the case at most locals, it's the newsletter editor's job to collect and write most, if not all, of the content, including getting artwork and photos. Here's a tip to make your job easier: Set up a regular "editorial board" meeting that includes key local officers, stewards, etc. This will be great help in finding out what needs to be covered. Perhaps you'll be able to persuade a local officer to submit articles regularly. But remember, as editor, it's your responsibility to make sure the news gets out on a regular basis.
