Since its formation in 2001, Verizon has cut 5,000 New Jersey jobs. That's almost 25% of its workforce in the state, in just five years - while the company has made billions.

Time and again, Verizon has sued, stalled and threatened unions and workers to prevent employees from organizing. Verizon Wireless even went so far as to relocate 600 jobs from Morristown, NJ to South Carolina - just to avoid unionization. Verizon's Union-busting activities prompted 113 members of Congress to demand a "more cooperative and productive labor policy."

Even though they've cut 5,000 jobs - and while our taxes have skyrocketed - Verizon has been handed more than $75 million in tax breaks over the last five years.
Now the Legislature is considering a plan to let Verizon into the television business - only those in wealthier communities where they think they can make enough money doing it. After all of the job cuts and union busting - and all of the tax breaks they've already received - the Legislature is considering giving Verizon another sweetheart deal... and we're going to pay.
