NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #1

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Nokia bargaining began on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, with Vice President Lisa Bolton giving opening remarks. It was clear from the Company’s opening remarks, as well as from the only proposal that the Company has passed, that the only goal the Company has is to eliminate the bargaining unit.

Over the past three days we have met with the Company. They have continued to lay out their plan for the “Field Forces of the Future”, which utilizes third party contracted Installers, and does not include the current represented workforce. The goal is to be union free by this time next year.

The Bargaining Team has made numerous Requests for Information relative to this latest company scheme. Tomorrow we will not be meeting with the Company. We will be working on formulating our proposals. Bargaining will resume on Monday, June 11th.

Your Bargaining Team is in a fight to keep this bargaining unit working at Nokia now and in the future. We cannot sit back and let the Company dissolve one of the oldest bargaining units in CWA. We owe it to our current members and to our retirees who deserve the retirement security they worked so hard for.

As Vice President Bolton said “The CWA has a strong, proud history of 'An Injury To One, Is An Injury To All'. To test that resolve would be a grave mistake.”

Your Bargaining Team,

Mary Jo Reilly
