NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #17

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today the Company and your Bargaining Team met. The Union passed a proposal to continue the “Added Benefits Program” for the life of CWA-26 Contract. The Union also passed a proposal to maintain existing language for the Service and Support employees (Appendix 2).  An additional proposal was passed on Pension Asset Transfers for Retiree Healthcare and to enhance the Social Security Supplement for people who are involuntarily terminated under a force adjustment program.

Your Bargaining Team also made its weekly 3P Quality report. The report includes pictures of sloppy work, bad connectors and other issues. In fact, too many defects to list. Surprisingly, the Company says it has not seen these issues on quality, so they are either lying or playing dumb. Mr. Muscat stated, “Nokia is committed to the highest standard of quality regardless of whether it is an internal employee or a 3P”. FAIR WARNING FOLKS - THE COMPANY HAS NOT WANTED TO PLAY "TIT FOR TAT” BY PASSING POOR QUALITY EXAMPLES OF CORE INSTALLERS' WORK. Be on your game!!!

Formal bargaining will resume on July 23rd. We will use next week to give both parties ample time to work on outstanding data requests, analysis and to work on proposals to help address the cost and flexibility issues presented by the Company. The Contract expires August 1, 2018.

Remember:  if you encounter quality issues with 3P contractors or are sent to clean up their mess, please send the information to the bargaining team:  cwalocal1090@yahoo.com. Please keep Mobilization going!  We will need membership support as we continue to bargain for a new contract, retiree healthcare and pension.
