NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #8

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Company and your Bargaining Team met again today. The Union requested a meeting with the Senior Director of Benefits and Policy today to explore cost savings without jeopardizing coverage for our members.

The Union continued to request data from the Company today as we attempt to craft a comprehensive cost saving model that will be mutually beneficial to the Company and our members. We also requested various “modeling” of costs associated with continuing the Post-Retirement Healthcare, Dental and Group Life Insurance. We are looking to ensure that retiree healthcare is extended beyond the 2 years the Company has proposed. Remember:  the Company is trying to leverage the elimination of the bargaining unit to achieve this!

Make no mistake, the Company is still seeking to destroy our bargaining unit by insisting on a third party outsourcing model. Our job is to ensure we reach a fair and equitable contract.

Remember Mobilization is critical. Our jobs, livelihood and bargaining unit are riding on us getting a fair and equitable contract. The contract expiration date is set for June 30th.
