Customer Service Committee Bio - Dianna Brooks

Dianna Brooks, AT&T Mobility

Executive Vice President, Local 6016, Oklahoma City, OK

Hello Union Brothers and Sisters,

I greet you in brotherly love. My name is Ethelyne Brooks, but everyone at the call center calls me Mrs. Brooks. I started this journey as an TSPS operator back on July 14, 1980. I attended Classen High School here in Oklahoma City. I had a crazy supervisor and I became a radical union steward. Back in the eighties, unions were very visible and strong. I have been through two strikes and without a doubt, it has made me the person I am today. I am energized and 100% committed to growing our union.  I am presently the Executive Vice- President of Local 6016. I represent over 1,200 employees. This consists of seventeen retail stores and two call centers (Consumer and Business Advanced Technical Support).

I am also the Mobilization Coordinator for our local. Mobilizing to grow our union is my expertise. I really enjoy meeting new employees that are eager to become CWA members. Educating our new members requires knowing the history of CWA.

Presently, my job allows me to be an expert in giving world class customer service. I troubleshoot more than fifteen mobile devices on any given day. I love my job and strive every day to be the best that I can be. Being a union officer while on the job allows me to directly understand the stress that is felt by members daily. Without the union, I probably would not be working for AT&T. I have no problem speaking out against injustices everywhere.

I was appointed to the Customer Service Committee by District 6 in 2016. I am excited to be a part of this great committee. We are here to make sure your voice is heard as well as your needs. I am also the Representative for the District 6 Civil Rights & Equality Committee. I am looking forward to working with the Customer Service Committee and accomplishing great works for 2017. With the new President's hateful agenda, we need the Union even more. It is vital to our existence.

The Trump Presidency really scares me.  I feel like I have stepped back in time to the civil rights era. This is an attack on all unions. He doesn't even respect human rights. We must organize and mobilize and send a loud message to his billionaire cabinet picks: We will not lay down and will take to the street in protest. We must start now preparing ourselves through education and secondary schools for advancement. The Executive Orders we have seen in the first few weeks showed the whole world that he does not have a clue on how the government really works. He has forgotten that the President works for us (We the people).
